Senate Confirmed Elena Kagan as Supreme Court Justice!
As it was expected, the US Senate confirmed Elena Kagan as the Supreme Court Justice. The voting in Senate confirmed her as the next Supreme Court Judge. Elena got 63 votes in her favor while 37 votes against her.
The good news is that Elena became the fourth woman to make it to the Supreme Court, while at present she will become the third woman on the Supreme Court. There are five Republicans who crossed the aisle to support Elena, and they were: Richard Lugar, Judd Gregg, Olympia Snowe, Lindsey Graham, and Susan Collins. On the other hand Ben Nelson became the only Democrats to oppose her.
Elena Kagan, will replace John Paul Stevens, who was the longest serving current member of the High Court. Kagan was the second nominee of President Barack Obama for a Supreme Court seat.
Although President Obama has not yet offered the congratulations to her, but he will offer the same later from Chicago, as explained by the White House. Thus Elena Kagan will become the 112th justice in the Supreme Court’s history.
