Citizenship issue becomes valid if you have met the PR requirements in the first place. If your PR status has expired, there is no question of applying for citizenship. On the face of it, you need to file a new application is Australia is still the PR destination you are looking for.
1. Just for information how many days, since the grant of PR status have you, your spouse and son physically stayed in Australia?
2. You mentioned ” one of your son” in your mail. Do you have any other child who also became a PR and stayed back in Australia?
Best of luck

what are the family benefits one gets for dependant children in australia in terms of money, like in canada they give you a certain amt of $ every month per child for sustenance??

4years ago my family had been granted Permenant residentship. However myself and wife could not stay in australia due to my job and one of my son neither stay there because he had to finished his college education in unided state. I think his PR visa almost expired now because he has not been stayed a australia after an inital visit as a PR. Question is; can he go back to Australia going for a citizenship now? how long does it take for him to be a citizen if he stay there from now?
