Tata is evacuating the Singur!
“It is a very unfortunate day. It is a very bad day for West Bengal,” West Bengal industry minister Nirupam Sen told a private Bengali TV channel. He said that “the Tatas have communicated their decision to me after a meeting which took place today to review the ground situation at Singur.”
Tata Motors, in a statement, said, “In view of the current situation, the company is evaluating alternate options for manufacturing the Nano car at other company facilities.” ”Tata Motors has been constrained to suspend construction and commissioning work at the Nano plant in Singur in view of the continued confrontation and agitation at the site,” the statement said. ”This decision was taken in order to ensure the safety of its employees and contract labor, who have continued to be violently obstructed from reporting to work,” it said. Last month, Ratan Tata had said he would rather pull out of Singur than expose his staff and machinery to attacks.
On August 28, Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee had directed her party men, joined by hundreds of cadres from fringe Left parties, to lay siege at the factory site to press for return of 400 acres of land. There has been a constant frustration in the Tata group due to this continued confrontation and agitation.
Ever since West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee became the chief minister of West Bengal he has been working restlessly towards the industrial revival of the highly socialism-infested state of Bengal. Bhattacharjee was very hopeful that the Rs 1,500-crore Nano project might alter his state’s image of being hostile to industry. But his business perspectives were always condemned not only by the opposition but by his own comrades also. In a survey covering 2000 people in 12 districts of the state, 80% of the people backed the Nano project as an essential element for industrialization of Bengal. Sourav Ganguly, who is the brand ambassador for West Bengal’s IT sector has also decided to bat for Tata’s Nano venture. He said, “The issue at Singur has become a national discussion today. As a citizen of the state of West Bengal and part of the Tata Group since 1994, I feel industry is the future of the state.’’ Inspite of such a strong positive backing by the people for the project, the site of Nano project at Singur remains deserted for the fifth consecutive day. The hopes of people of West Bengal to see their state hit the road of industrialization dashed at altar of so called democratic movement.
Doesn’t all this unrest makes you want to question the very purpose of politicians who are supposed to work for the betterment of the people? It has become a natural instinct of people to criticize and condemn a person who has the audacity to go against the flow. A state with a population of 80.22 million people stands at the crossroads of progression and regression today. It’s time that we all realize the strength of our right of expression and voice our opinions against what we think is unfair.

I would like to attract your attention towards a speech by Trinmool Congress chief Ms.Mamta Banerjee delivered on 3rd September evening. She considered IT professional as ‘Haridas’(Abusing language in Bengali). This is attack on entire working class with any prestigious sector. She would like to snatch the power from left front government by winning the election. Is it a behavior by would be chief Minister(If She Win Election!)?It is the time to decide whether politician will make the people victim for their own political benefit.

As being a student of Engineering & as a common people of west bengal,I condemn Ms.Mamta Banerjee’s destructive movement and her allegation against a part of regional media. But in reality most of the regional news channel is coming with exact news except one news channel in bengali who always comes with wrong news in favor of trinmool congress.T would like to request you all to stand unitedly against this anti-industrialization attitude by all sector to protect nation’s image in front of world.
